I guess that racism is alive and well in Amherst – at least reverse racism, as expressed by a letter-writer in the June 23 Gazette.

The writer criticizes the Gazette for daring to suggest that the public refrain from assigning blame on the Aisha Hiza case until more information is available.

This is clearly the Donald Trump way of dealing with issues. Don’t wait until the facts are known. Assign blame automatically according to your own personal agenda. The writer’s empathy toward African-Americans is to be admired, but her cause, and mine, would be better served by addressing proven documented issues of racism.
