I recently stumbled across this scene on my way back from visiting family in the Albany, New York, area. I always take the backroads on the off chance that I will find something I would have missed driving on highways like the Mass Pike.
While cruising along Route 20, I spotted an unassuming sign that read โSanderson Brook Falls,โ and I decided to check it out.
After a pleasant 20-minute walk down a dirt road in the Chester-Blandford State Forest, I reached the falls. It was a bit underwhelming at first sight due to the lack of rain recently and subsequent low water levels. Really, though, it was only inviting a closer look.
The cold, clear water cascades some 60 feet, plunging into a scattering of small pools along the way. It was an intriguing and enjoyable sight โ and definitely worth the trip.ย
