DEERFIELD — A man was pulled from the Connecticut River Saturday afternoon and was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, where he was pronounced dead.
According to a press release from the Deerfield Police Department, the Deerfield, Greenfield and Turners Falls Fire Departments, South County Emergency Medical Services and Deerfield Police responded to an emergency on McClelland Farm Road in Deerfield at around 12:37 p.m.
“We believe he was swimming with some other friends and apparently got into some deep water,” said Capt. Leon Ambo of the Turners Falls Fire Department when reached by telephone. Ambo could not provide any other information.
CPR was initiated and advanced level care was provided by South County EMS, according to the release.
The incident is under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and Deerfield Police Department.
