FOOD DRIVE: A food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in Hatfield will be held by students from Pakistan at the Wal-Mart at Mountain Farms Mall on Wednesday.

The students, part of the University of Massachusetts Civic Initiative’s Pakistani Young Leaders program, will be at the store from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to collect both money and non-perishable food.

This is the sixth year the students in the program have conducted a food drive.

Ther 29 visiting undergraduate students, ages 19 to 24, were chosen from over 600 applicants and take part in a six-week public policy leadership institute hosted at UMass and funded by the U.S. State Department.

MARITIME PROVINCES: The Council on Aging will sponsor a tour in the fall of the Maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

A presentation on the trip, open to residents and non-residents, will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Hadley Senior Center, 46 Middle St.

Ted Nelson from White Star Tours will detail the itinerary which features Hopewell Rocks, the point on the Bay of Fundy with the highest tides in the world, the Anne of Green Gables National Park and Peggy’s Cove, where the only post office in a lighthouse exists in North America.

The tour departs from the Hadley Senior Center Oct. 2 and returns Oct. 9.

Refreshments will be served during the presentation.
