Season highlights: Pitched Hampshire Regional to a second straight Division 2 state softball championship. Threw seven no-hitters, including a perfect game on May 23 against Chicopee Comp. Struck out 281 batters to just 31 walks, and allowed 13 runs in 24 games. Finished her career with 665 strikeouts, one short of the school record.
Ferris on a second state championship: “Obviously states was a big one for everyone. I’m going to miss my team because we were pretty much like a giant family. We all got along really good.”
Ferris on the state title game comeback: “I was a little nervous at first, but then I have so much confidence in my team because they’re all great hitters. I was hoping we would get ahead eventually.”
Ferris on pitching at Nichols College next season: “I’m not expecting like a lot of playing time in the first few years, hopefully a little. We’re playing way tougher teams, I’m more nervous about that and having a new catcher. Obviously I had a good connection with Lilly (West). She knew all of my pitches.”
Hampshire coach Brian McGan on Ferris: “The kid’s been pretty much unstoppable over the last two-and-a-half years she’s been pitching. She didn’t look back. She’s been dominant since then. She’s taken it to another level. … First off a great pitcher, second off a great kid. Couldn’t ask for a better person to be on the mound or on your team. Her teammates love being around her, and she loves being around them. Tough to replace.”
