Northampton and the surrounding communities are fortunate to have access to an extensive network of multi-use trails. The city’s Planning & Sustainability office has organized an Adopt a Trail scheme to help maintain those trails. (For more information, visit northamptonma.gov/1372/Adopt-a-Trail).

The city’s DPW is responsible for brush-hogging large sections of the trails in Northampton. Recently, DPW crews have completed the section of the trail between the Route 10 bridge and Earle and Grove streets. This section runs through woods and wetlands and is frequently overgrown.

The crew has done a fantastic job of opening up the trail and making it safer and more enjoyable. I’m sure all the bikers, walkers, runners and skateboarders who travel this part of the trail are truly appreciative.
