Damage seen Tuesday of an Easthampton fire that took place overnight.

EASTHAMPTON – The fire at 22-24 Davis St. that caused $100,000 worth of damage and sent one tenant to the hospital was  electrical in origin, according to fire officials.

State Police assigned to the Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire that broke out at about 11 p.m. Monday began in a first-floor bedroom that contained a power strip with many items connected to it.

The exact device that may have caused the fire could not be determined because of heavy fire damage in that area, according to the Easthampton Fire Department.

One resident was transported to the hospital. A man identifying himself as the resident’s son wrote on the Easthampton Fire Department’s Facebook page that the hospitalized tenant “has been discharged and is doing well.”

City property records list the owners as James and Constance Rogers. The home is assessed at $233,700.

Fire Chief David Mottor said the house will likely need a new roof and extensive repairs.
