As the sun faded behind the trees at Look Memorial Park in Florence earlier this month, Worthington balloonist Paul Sena was still taking passengers up for rides in his tethered hot air balloon during the annual Northampton Family Fourth event.
I had taken many photographs throughout the evening of the vibrant and striking colors of the balloon against the bright blue sky, but I think I enjoyed the dramatic silhouette just a little more.
It was a lesson in patience and timing to capture the brief moment when the fire illuminated the inside of the balloon. It seemed every time I lowered my camera, the fire would light, or go out whenever I raised the camera. Eventually I got the frame I was looking for and waited for the fireworks show to start.
