Republicans have been trying to find damning evidence against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in their two-year, $7 million investigation of State Department e-mails –taxpayer time and money which will not be available for security, education, combating the Zika virus, opioid addiction or any of the priorities of most Americans.
They did get the FBI and Justice Department, with the enormous benefit of hindsight, to identify “lack of judgement” and “carelessness.” Happy enough with the FBI investigation prior to the final report, they are now incensed that the results, though supportive of their own findings, do not justify their partisan priorities.
The chairman of the committee himself has acknowledged that no criminal activity was found. I cannot recall Republicans investigating for even one minute the most disastrous lack of judgment in modern history: The invasion of Iraq by a president (from whom no candidate has sought endorsement) cost U.S. citizens billions of dollars, thousands of lives, devastated the economy and left a vacuum in the Middle East eventually filled by today’s terrorists.
Will you trust a lifelong servant of the people, of whom no wrongdoing has been found (despite unending Republican conspiracy theories), or an egotist who seems compelled to tweet about his every move?
