HOLYOKE – Two people who got lost while hiking on Mount Tom Wednesday night required assistance from the State Police.
One of the hikers called 911 about 9 p.m. State Police were able to locate them using the GPS on their phones. The State Police Airwing helicopter was called to assist in the rescue, according to police in the Northampton barracks.
Neither hiker was injured. The hikers were close to a trail and got lost after nightfall, police said.
