AMHERST – A month before the primary elections, residents of the 3rd Hampshire District will get a chance to ask questions of the six Democratic candidates for that seat.
The forum, which will also include candidates for Hampshire County sheriff, will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Town Room.of Amherst Town Hall.
El Sol Latino newspaper editor Manuel Frau-Ramos and radio station WHMP’s “Black in the Valley” hosts Carlie Tartakov and Jacqueline Smith-Crooks will moderate the community-organized forum.
Those with questions or discussion topics for the candidates are asked to submit them via email to the Amherst Area NAACP, one of four groups sponsoring the event, by Aug. 5.
Primary elections are Sept. 8. Six candidates have announced they’ll run for the seat since Rep. Ellen Story announced she won’t seek re-election. Story has held the seat since 1992.
The 3rd Hampshire District comprises Amherst, Pelham and precinct 1 of Granby.
