SOUTHAMPTON — A man police say robbed the County Liquors store on Friday while brandishing a hypodermic needle was arrested Sunday.
Southampton Police say Michael P. Collins, 34, formerly of Westfield, is charged with armed robbery, armed assault to rob, larceny over $250 and assault with a dangerous weapon.
A store employee reported the robbery at 7:30 p.m., and said a man had entered the store and pulled out a hypodermic needle, holding “it in a threatening manner” and demanding all the money, according to Southampton Police.
It is unclear how much money was taken.
The Southampton Police Department reported that numerous area departments assisted and members of the public also helped with calls providing information on the case.
This is the second time in the last year that someone robbed a Southampton business using a needle.
In December, a man robbed Subway on College Highway of an undisclosed amount of money.
