EASTHAMPTON – A tractor-trailer jack-knifed on I-91 south early Tuesday morning, colliding with a guardrail and spilling 80 gallons of diesel fuel, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The crash occurred at 4:15 a.m. between exits 17 and 18, State Trooper Dustin Fitch said. It caused heavy traffic back ups that continued into mid-morning while a clean up was underway.
A 39-year-old man from Haydenville was driving the tractor-trailer and no injuries were reported, according to State Police.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Northampton Fire Department responded to the scene. The tractor-trailer was removed from the highway by 6:45 a.m.
