“tinydance performances offer transparency and human connection in today’s complex world, highlighting the intersection between sustainability and the arts,” says Kelly Silliman, creator of the tinydance project.
The tinydance project’s super-sustainable and low-tech qualities center around its tiny (4-foot-by-8-foot) stage, which can be towed by bicycle to outdoor venues, with the dancers performing under natural light to entirely acoustic musical accompaniment.
Titled “still we climb,” tinydance project’s annual tinytour is set to unfold this week with performances scheduled as follows:
Saturday at 1 and 2 p.m. on the Amherst Town Common; Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the Easthampton Bike Path near Tandem Bagel (performances followed by a community potluck); Monday at 5 and 6 p.m. on the Florence Bike Path, near Straw Ave.; Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the lawn of Forbes Library in Northampton; Aug. 11 at 5 and 6 p.m. on the Florence Bike Path, near Keyes Ave.; Aug. 12 at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. at Pulaski Park or Memorial Hall in downtown Northampton; and Aug. 13 at 2 and 3 p.m. at Look Park in Florence (join the troupe after the second show for a community potluck and tiny end-of-tour celebration).
