The Eva Trager Memorial Committee is now seeking nominations for people who made their mark on downtown Northampton and passed away between 2014 and 2016.

Honorees will have their names affixed to the memorial, a bronze sculpture of an owl in front of Eva Tragerโ€™s former store, Country Comfort. The sculpture was created by local artist Gregory Stone. ย ย 

Nominees should have had a generous spirit who helped the community, recognized the importance of involvement in downtown activities and had an impassioned vision for the downtown areaย used to make a meaningful change.

The committee will be accepting nominees until Aug,ย 15. Nominations can be made online at evatragermemorial.com.

Eva Trager, โ€œThe Queen of Main Streetโ€, came to Northampton in 1971 and influenced the community through her business skills and enthusiasm. The memorial sculpture was unveiled September 14, 2012,ย the first anniversary of her death.

The first nine honorees were Bashir Ahamed, David Bourbeau, E. John Gare,III, Douglas Kohl, Bruce MacMillan, Peter McNulty, Denis Perlman, Michael Sissman, and Eva Trager.

In September 2014, six additional honorees were added to the memorial. They were Al August and Family, Christina Cavallari, Bill Nagle, Kay Sheehan, Norman Winston, Stanley Zewski.
