THE CUCKOO CLOCK SPEECH

Since mid-July, Amherst Cinema has been staging a retrospective on Orson Welles, featuring some of the director and writer’s biggest movies such as “Citizen Kane” and “The Magnificent Ambersons.” Welles, of course, did plenty of acting, too, and this week the focus is on that: You can see him play the villainous Harry Lime in Carol Reed’s “The Third Man,” the post-WWII noir thriller set in Vienna that critics have called one of Great Britain’s finest films. Sunday at 2 p.m. and Tuesday at 7 p.m. amherstcinema.org.
