Whilst on holiday in Massachusetts last year, English organist Alan Saggerson was afforded the chance to play the recently restored Johnson-Skinner organ at the First Churches of Northampton. He pronounced it “magnificent.” Back on another busman’s holiday in the States this year (trying out organs throughout Vermont), Saggerson has been invited to play a fundraising concert at First Churches, an engagement he’s accepted despite having gotten a parking ticket last year for facing the wrong way on a two-way street (“Not a criminal offense known to English law!”). Having paid the $15 fine, he says he hopes there is no warrant outstanding for his arrest when he comes to the city Sunday for a performance of works by Mendelssohn, Bach and English composers Samuel Coleridge Taylor and David Blackwell.

7 p.m. Donation at the door to benefit the organ fund. First Churches is at 129 Main St.
