Western Massachusetts could see severe weather Tuesday, including heavy rainfall, flooding and even an isolated tornado.
Thunderstorms are likely to move through the area between 6 and 10 p.m., National Weather Service spokeswoman Lenore Correia said.
“Heavy rain is definitely the biggest concern we have across the region,” she said.
The rainfall could lead to localized flooding. Correia said residents facing flooded areas should never risk driving through those areas.
There’s also a chance of a small, isolated tornado, though “it’ll likely be small, if anything,” Correia said.
Other than avoiding floodwaters, she said if the weather gets bad, people should go inside, and even when it’s not, they should keep an eye on the sky today.
Tuesday’s high temperature is predicted to be 85 degrees with a low of 72 in the evening. After some clouds the rest of the week, the weekend is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s.
