The Green River Festival may be bigger, but Easthampton’s Millpond Live series is actually on a body of water, along Lower Mill Pond near Ferry Street. The five-week, late-summer concert series, at the city’s Millside Park, kicks off Sunday from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. with a bluegrass jamboree, featuring four groups, including the Valley’s The Rambling Kind. The festivities include a farm-to-table feast with area food trucks, handcrafted beverages from Easthampton breweries, and table tennis. And it’s all free. millpond.live

For another dose of American roots music, consider singer-songwriter Iris Dement, whose 1992 album, “Infamous Angel,” won multiple Grammy nominations and made her an instant name in country music.
