Grow Food’s program is exemplary

A couple of weeks ago there was a delightful article about Grow Food Northampton and the work that they do to help those in need.

Wonderfully administered by Clem Clay and managed by Pat James the program goes way beyond the entities mentioned in the article. The organic vegetables and herbs are farmed by Carla Shafer who provides a delicious and bountiful variety of healthy produce which is tended, harvested and delivered by ever-faithful volunteers who make the program work.

Besides those mentioned in the article, recipients of the program also include the soup kitchens of Northampton, both MANNA and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (all volunteer), as well as the Easthampton Community Center, each of which greatly benefits from the fresh vegetables.

It is heartwarming and inspirational to see how so many work together to provide for the hungry in our area.
