A smaller vocal ensemble auditioned from the Pioneer Valley Symphony Chorus, the Pioneer Valley Symphony Chamber Choir performs separate from the symphony throughout the Connecticut River Valley. Its repertoire consists of spirituals, madrigals, partsongs, motets and other unaccompanied vocal music all the way from the 15th to the 21st century.
This weekend brings two opportunities to hear the ensemble. Under the direction of Jonathan Harvey, the choir will close out the “A Perfect Spot of Tea” series at the Porter-Phelps-Huntington Museum in Hadley Saturday with performances during tea servings at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. The museum is at 130 River Dr. (Rte 47) in Hadley. $12. pphmuseum.org
On Sunday, the choir will be at All Souls Church at 399 Main St. in Greenfield to present a benefit concert for Greenfield’s Stone Soup Café, which provides a weekly pay-what-you-can meal to the community. Admission to the 3 p.m. concert is by donation.
