EASTHAMPTON — Three people who were being watched in connection with several recent home break-ins in Easthampton were arrested Wednesday.

Wilson Mercado and Jessica Vargas, both of Holyoke, and Shane Morin, of 50 Ridgewood Terrace in Easthampton, were arrested Wednesday morning after detectives conducting surveillance on the trio watched as one of them got out of their vehicle and allegedly stole a package from a porch, according to Easthampton Police.

The surveillance was conducted as part of an  investigation into a string of break-ins in Easthampton in recent weeks. The three people may face additional charges, police said in the statement.

Mercado, Vargas and Morin are each charged with larceny over $250. Mercado and Vargas are also each charged with receiving stolen property valued at more than $250. They are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Northampton District Court, according to the statement.

No additional information was made available by police Wednesday, including which other breaks may be linked to the three people who were arrested.
