AMHERST — A woman driving a vehicle that struck a utility pole on South East Street Thursday morning suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to Fire Chief Walter “Tim” Nelson.
The woman, who was not identified by authorities, hit the pole about 9:40 a.m. , causing heavy damage to the front end of the vehicle, Nelson said.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Nelson said.
Eversource was contacted to repair the pole.
Nelson said police are investigating the cause of the crash.
