AMHERST – Graffiti placed on the exterior walls of several downtown buildings is being investigated by Amherst Police.

The latest incidents were reported to police Friday at 2:25 a.m. and 6:20 a.m.

In the first incident, a man was seen using spray paint to apply graffiti to the outside of Bertucci’s restaurant, 51 East Pleasant St. He fled before police got there.

In the incident reported about four hours later, graffiti was observed on the north side of Primo Pizzaria Too, 255 Triangle St. 

Detective Janet Lopez said both incidents remain under investigation and police are trying to identify suspects.

The vandalism followed reports at 8:59 a.m. and 9:28 a.m. Wednesday and 9:37 p.m. Thursday that words were spray-painted on the alleyway next to Chopping Block salon, 40 Main St., on an exterior wall of CVS Pharmacy, 76 North Pleasant St. and onto the outside of The Sub restaurant, 33 East Pleasant St.
