BELCHERTOWN — Two people were injured and Amherst Road was closed Friday morning following an accident involving a car and SUV, police said.
According to a press release issued by Belchertown Police, the accident, described as serious, occurred at 7:24 a.m. near Gulf Road.
The Belchertown Fire Department used extrication tools to remove a person from the car.
One person was transported to Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, while another was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Belchertown Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section were investigating.
Amherst Road was closed between Federal Street and Gulf Road.
