HADLEY — A motorcyclist was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after crashing into a guardrail on Route 47 just after noon Saturday.

“The motorcyclist was traveling North on Route 47 and it was right near an S curve near French Street where he hit the guardrail,” Hadley Police Officer John Robitaille said Saturday night.

Robitaille said that the motorcyclist, who was not identified by authorities, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

He noted that the section of road where the accident occurred can be difficult to navigate.

The man was traveling at the back of group of about 20 motorcyclists, who Robitaille said were participating in a benefit ride, though he did not know for which charity.

No other motorcycles were involved in the accident which closed Route 47 for about 30 minutes.
