I want to praise members of the Amherst Select Board for their courageous rejection of the tentative agreement for the Comcast cable renewal.

Their refusal to believe the offer was the “best agreement” possible directed the acting Town Manager to relay their finding to Attorney Peter Epstein, the lawyer for the town during these negotiations. The Select Board’s decision places the burden back onto Comcast to improve the current capital funds as well as addressing the expressed community needs for High Definition and Electronic Program Guide.

I encourage the Gazette to write more about the cable renewal so other towns and cities can see it is posible to stand up to the large cable company and fight for your residents.
