FIDDLING AROUND
When fiddle virtuoso Eric Lee was 18, the folk jam band The Strangelings asked him to sit in with them at a campground jam at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, after hearing him play. His fiddling must have impressed; two days later, Lee was appearing on the festival’s main stage as the band’s newest member. Since then, he has adding psychedelic rock and bluegrass to his repertoire. These days he’s a songwriter, at work on an album, and plays regularly with The Gather Rounders. On Saturday at 7 p.m., Lee will be the guest performer at Song & Story Swap at the Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst. Come, share a story or a song, or just sit and listen.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
There will be an artists’ reception Sept. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. for “The Sky and Earth,” an exhibit by Janet Walerstein Winston, Rochelle Shicoff, Julie Rivera and Larry Rankin at the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, 300 Westgate Center Drive in Hadley. On view through Oct. 28.
