NORTHAMPTON — A Belchertown man denied in court Wednesday stealing approximately $46,000 from a trailer park community over a year and a half.

Kenneth Pontz, 52, pleaded not guilty in Hampshire Superior Court to two counts of larceny of more than $250. Pontz is free on personal recognizance.

Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Jayme Parent said Pontz was the treasurer of the Sportshaven Trailer Park Tenant Association in Belchertown.

Among his responsibilities, she said in a statement, was the handling of maintenance fees from tenants as well as paying vendors who provided services to the trailer park. Pontz allegedly stole the money between July 2014 and December 2015.

Parent said he allegedly stole money from association accounts to use  for his own purposes.

Pontz’s attorney, Alan Rubin of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, declined comment on Wednesday. Pontz is due back in court Nov. 21.
