I would like to compliment the Amherst libraries on their summer reading programs. My 11-year-old son began going to the North Amherst library when we moved here 8 years ago.
Theresa and Robyn treated him with kindness and nurtured him as he blossomed into a reader. This summer he was thrilled to continue to participate in the summer reading program and usher his younger brother into the tradition of reading and receiving a special book at the end of the summer.
We all enjoyed the party at Mill River, which was a beautiful capstone experience to end a summer of fun events thanks to the many people who work hard to keep our children reading during the summer break.
I appreciate the fresh new excitement that Mia Cabana, director of youth services for the Amherst public libraries, and her team, like Claire and Jessica, have brought to our libraries. Likewise I am grateful to the long service of librarians like Theresa and Robyn who have spent many years helping our children grow. I feel lucky to live in this community!
