Kayla Henry had a hat trick for the Belchertown girls soccer team in a 4-1 road win over South Hadley on Tuesday.

Henry added an assist for the Orioles (1-0). One goal came on a perfectly placed free kick.

Lyndsey Flemming also scored for Belchertown, while Allyson Tatro and Tess Gadoury added assists.

Samantha Birks made five saves in net for the Orioles.

Emma Slysz scored for the Tigers (0-1) assisted by Marley Medina. Sophie Gatzounas made 11 saves in net.

Boys soccer

Belchertown 2, Southwick 0 — Ben LaClair scored two first-half goals on right-to-left crosses from Alex Morgado as the Orioles opened the season with the win.

Tanner Clark made five saves for the shutout.

Gateway Regional 1, Northampton 1 — Nick Cooper scored with four minutes left in regulation to give Gateway a tie at home against the Blue Devils.

Nick Capers gave Hamp (0-0-1) the lead in the second half.

Shane Mastello made seven saves for the Gators (0-0-1). Ian Hutchins made three saves for Northampton

Chicopee Comp 3, South Hadley 0 — Nehemiah Wilson made 11 saves for the Tigers (0-1) in an opening home loss.

Granby 4, Hopkins Academy 1 — Ryan Shaw scored two goals for the Rams in a season-opening road win. Daylon Kongo and Joe Desormier also found the net for Granby (1-0).

John Earle had the goal for Hopkins (0-1), while Vance Canella had an assist.

Jack Feltovic made seven saves in defeat.

Field hockey

Frontier Regional 4, Southwick 0 — The Red Hawks exploded for three second-half goals to run away for the win in their season opener.

Ashley Borkowski, McKenzie Patterson and Camille Alli each had a goal and one assist to power the offense.

Hannah Roche also scored, while Olivia Vecellio added one assist.

Skyla Burniske did not face a shot in goal, while backup Darian Meyers made one save for the combined shutout.

Girls volleyball

Athol 3, South Hadley 1 — Kiana Turner amassed 14 kills and 25 digs, but the Tigers lost 23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-21 at home to open the season.

Nicole Niemiec had three kills and 16 digs for South Hadley (0-1).

Amherst Regional 3, West Springfield 0 — Playing their first game in the middle school bothered the Hurricanes at first, but they settled down for a straightforward 25-14, 25-16, 25-20 win at home.

Setter Teya Nolan dished out 18 assists, seven digs and seven aces. Nina Hayes chipped in six kills and four digs, while Claire Basler-Chang added five of each. Periya Yath led the Hurricanes (1-0) with eight digs.

Frontier Regional 3, Westfield 0 — Strong serving to the tune of 22 aces lifted the Red Hawks to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 home win. Ella Deane had eight of those aces and 31 assists. Lauren Davenport led Frontier (1-0) with 11 kills, while Selayna Bathurst had seven.
