Seven seconds before this little bit of chaos theory happened, there had stood, in three very neat rows, a dozen Galaxy floor sanders — looking a little robotic — and two dozen guys eager to start their day.
All of the Dion Flooring crews had gathered outside the firm’s Hadley home at 7 a.m. for a group photograph to help mark its 75 years in business. While the early-arrivers waited on a few late-comers, there was a considerable amount of chatter and good-natured ribbing going on. In fact, when the last two men pulled up, they were received with an (already standing) ovation.
Once assembled, the group smiled easily as I spent about a minute shooting. Then, after I made sure I had a decent frame, I said, “OK, that’s good — thanks,” and it was like the starting gun had sounded — they were off to the races.
