LIBRARY TRUSTEE VACANCY: A joint meeting between the trustees of the Jones Library and the Select Board to fill a vacancy on the board that oversees the library has been pushed back to Sept. 26.

With the delay in the appointment to fill the seat previously held by Jonathan McCabe, who resigned in July, anyone interested in the position has until 4 p.m. Sept. 21 to submit a letter of interest.

Only one resident, who is not being identified by the town manager’s office, has sent a letter so far.

Letters of interest may be submitted by email to selectboard@amherstma.gov or in writing to Select Board, Town Hall, 4 Boltwood Ave., Amherst, 01002. They should include a summary of reasons for wishing to serve, qualifications and experience.

The person elected will serve until the next annual election, and can seek reelection.

CULTURAL COUNCIL: An information session for artists, musicians and humanities groups interested in seeking grants from the Amherst Cultural Council will be held Tuesday.

The meeting in the Amherst Room at Jones Library will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The local council recently received $25,300 from the Massachusetts Cultural Council for fiscal year 2017.

All applications must be made online and submitted by Oct. 17.
