The Eagles venture out to Berkshire County for their opener. Max Weir and the offense is in Year 2 of coach Matt Bean’s system. The Generals went 7-3 last year. As the No. 2 seed, they fell in the Division 5 semifinal round.

The Red Hawks will look to improve on their 9-2 mark and Division 5 WMass semifinal appearance in 2015. Seth Gewanter fell just shy of 1,000 yards rushing last season. The Blue Devils lost their first eight games before beating Smith Voke and Dean Tech to end their ’15 season.

Optimism is high for the Orioles, who start the season healthy. Injuries derailed their 1-9 season in 2015. Cam Cass’ return should pay dividends. The Pacers finished 3-7, including 1-4 at Szot Park, last year.

The Vikings are looking to build off last season under first-year coach Tony Capua. Smith went 2-8 in 2015, but the pair of wins matched its combined total from the previous two seasons. The Vikings will debut a spread offense. The Warriors are coming off a 2-9 campaign.

The Tigers have been waiting for this night all preseason as they will play for the first time on their new turf field. South Hadley went 7-4 and fell in the Division WMass Division 4 semifinals last year. The Lions won three out of four to close their 7-5 year in 2015.
