A 52-year-old woman from Minneapolis, Minn. reported to police Sunday damage that occurred overnight to her rental vehicle while parked at the Hotel Northampton. Police said the woman parked in the hotel lot at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday night and found fresh damage to the rear bumper at 7:45 a.m. Sunday. Police are working with the hotel to obtain security camera footage.

Matthew David McGrath, 28, of Springfield, was arrested at 2:13 a.m. Sunday on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, having no inspection sticker and a license restriction violation for failing to wear glasses. McGrath was stopped on Bridge Road after police ran his plate and allegedly saw the expired inspection. McGrath allegedly smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech. Police said he failed field sobriety tests and admitted to drinking whiskey and failed to wear glasses while driving.

Police said a man who parked his car at 83 Oak Street reported that a wallet containing $800 cash, credit cards and a license was stolen from the unlocked vehicle between 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday morning. There are no suspects at this time.

A 26-year-old Northampton woman reported to police Saturday afternoon that her cell phone and wallet were stolen last Sunday from Edwards Church, 297 Main Street. There are no suspects at this time.

Police said Pine Brook Curve was closed for one hour beginning Saturday at 1:07 p.m. after a cable line was ripped down by a fallen tree branch. No injuries were reported.

Pedro Jose Soto-Rodriguez, 19, of Westfield, was arrested for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and use of a motor vehicle without authority Friday at 11:12 p.m. Police received a call that Soto-Rodriguez was driving a 1995 Toyota Corolla that did not belong to him. When officers stopped him at Pride Gas Station at 375 King St., it was determined he did not have a driver’s license, police said.

Richard M. Fill, 30, of 3 Sunrise Drive in Hadley, was arrested at 1:38 a.m. Saturday for operating under the influence of alcohol. According to police, Fill drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk near 88 Pleasant St. and struck a light post and fire hydrant. Fill failed a sobriety test and was also charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and making a prohibited left hand turn from Hampden Avenue onto Pleasant Street.
