Joe Desormier recorded a hat trick and dished out two assists in a 7-0 road win for the Granby boys soccer team over Smith Academy on Monday.
“We did not do a good job keeping track of him,” Smith Academy coach Jason Duncan said.
Noah Bleakley, Ryan Bachand and Corey Hinkley also scored for the Rams (3-1, 2-1 McGrath South).
Collin Gaudrault, Dylan Bragel and Daylon Kongo dished out assists.
The seventh Granby goal was an own goal by Smith Academy on a failed clearance.
“We played poorly. They played well,” Duncan said. “They’re a quality squad. We have some young guys that re getting experience under fire.”
Smith Academy (1-2, 1-2 McGrath South) goalie Jack Hession made eight saves.
Granby goalie Zach Gorham did not make a save in the shutout.
Frontier Regional 5, Sabis 0 — Five Red Hawks scored to stay unbeaten through two games.
Ethan LaFleur and Tyler Mayrand had a goal and an assist each.
Dan Bronke, Ben Arnold and Zach Hamilton scored for Frontier (2-0, 2-0 Schmid), while Alex Gheorghita and Noah Jacques added assists.
Peter Bronke made two saves in a comfortable day in net.
Westfield Tech 1, Smith Vocational 0 — Jamie Mikalonis stopped 11 shots in a home loss for the Vikings (0-1).
Westfield Tech scored three minutes into the game.
Easthampton 4, Hopkins Academy 1 — Fran Fuhrmann scored twice to lead the Eagles to their first win of the year.
Chris Williams and Junior Sumba also scored.
Williams, Tyler Karakula, Nick Soucy and Patrick Laszczkowski all added assists for the Eagles (1-1, 1-1 Schmid), while Drew Caires stopped five shots
Uan O’Brien scored for Hopkins (0-1-1, 0-1-1 Schmid) on a free kick, and Jack Feltovic made nine saves.
Belchertown 3, West Springfield 0 — The Orioles shut out the Terriers at home behind Tanner Clark’s fives saves in net.
Alec Morgado scored twice for Belchertown (2-0). Alex Szarkowski also scored.
Hayden Bennis and Evan Fournier assisted on Morgado’s goals.
Renaissance 1, Gateway Regional 0 — Two close calls kept the Gators from taking a late lead in an eventual loss at home.
Nick Cooper’s corner kick bounced around and almost found the net for Gateway with 10 minutes left in a tie game.
Cooper also attempted a direct kick just outside the penalty area but the shot found the keeper’s arms.
Renaissance scored with seven minutes left in the game.
Shane Mastello made four saves for the Gators (1-1-1). Joe Coon played well defensively for Gateway.
Hampshire Regional 1, Palmer 0 — Brody Dean scored on a half-volleyed attempt after catching up to a 50-50 ball from Dillon Pooler.
Raiders keeper Ioannis Iatroudis made five saves.
Amherst Regional 7, Chicopee Comp 0 — Tate Rietkerk had a goal and an assist for the Hurricanes in a road win.
Colton Spirko, Marvin Rivas Ayala, Tim Felton, Theo Scott, Ethan Lefebvre and Andre Shepard also found the net for Amherst (1-1).
Thomas Perry and Sam Hare-Steig added assists, as well.
Liam Carolan and Declan Gray-Mullen combined for three saves to keep the clean sheet.
East Longmeadow 3, Northampton 1 — Hamp’s J.D. Pruett converted a Ben Rapoza assist, four minutes into the game, but the Spartans controlled the game from there.
Ian Hutchins made eight saves for the Blue Devils (0-2-1).
Monson 6, South Hadley 0 — Nehemiah Wilson made four saves in a loss for the Tigers (0-3, 0-1 Holley).
