HADLEY — The Select Board and School Committee will host an informational forum on the state of the town at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hopkins Academy cafeteria.
Although Hadley has a population of about 5,000, an estimated 20,000 people can be in the town on any given day, according to Town Administer David Nixon. Vehicles driving through town, people shopping at the malls and students at the outer edge of the University of Massachusetts campus contribute to that number throughout the day, Nixon said.
The forum will address the resources of a small town and the demand for public services in Hadley such as police, the fire department, ambulance and snow plowing.
There will also be a presentation on Hadley’s state of financial affairs. Nixon said major financial decisions in Hadley are made by volunteers such as members of the Select Board.
During the forum, Hadley residents will be able to ask questions and find out how they can get involved, Nixon said.
