SPOCK LIVES!
Leonard Nimoy, who won eternal fame for his role as a Mr. Spock, a Vulcan, on “Star Trek,” died last year at age 83. But his work lives on in many ways. For one, R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton has a new exhibit of Nimoy’s photographs, many never publicly shown, and other material. Meanwhile, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst features “For the Love of Spock,” a documentary by Adam Nimoy that explores his father’s life. Tickets are $4-$8. yiddishbookcenter.org, rmichelson.com.
ANOTHER GOOD BET
Abstract expressionism, centered in New York, was all the rage in the painting world in the decade after World War II. A comparable movement in Europe, known as CoBrA, got less attention, but you can examine its history at a new exhibit at the University Museum of Contemporary Art at UMass. It runs through Oct. 25.
