SOUTH DEERFIELD — Yellow jackets at the Tilton Library have disrupted regular events and caused the library to seek outside help this week.

“They must have built in-ground nests without our knowing it,” Debbie McQuillan, head of adult circulation, said Tuesday afternoon.

A notice on the library’s Facebook page alerted library patrons to “use the door at the top of the front steps or the door in the back of the building.” The post said the hornet problem caused an artist’s talk to be postponed.

McQuillan said the ground entrance was roped off after a person was stung a few days ago.

On Tuesday, she said the library hired someone to use anti-wasp spray around the grounds.
