The Amherst Regional girls soccer team wrestled the division lead away from Holyoke Friday night.

Becky Caracker had an assist and sealed the win as the Hurricanes beat the Purple Knights, 2-1.

Caracker assisted Sage DeChiara on her first-half goal, then made it 2-0 in the 60th minute for Amherst (3-1-2, 3-0-1 Central).

Casey Flueckiger had the second-half assist and Reilly Lepak made eight saves in the win.

Holyoke (2-4-1) fell to 2-1-1 in the league.

Belchertown 1, Minnechaug 1 — Kayla Henry scored to keep a zero in the Orioles’ loss column.

Samantha Birks made four saves for Belchertown (3-0-3, 1-0-2 Coombs).

Renaissance 1, Smith Vocational 0 — Maddisin Atkinson made nine saves but the Vikings (5-1) were shut out and dealt their first loss at home.

Agawam 2, Northampton 0 — Sydney White made 12 saves but the Blue Devils (3-1-2) fell on the road.

Boys soccer

Northampton 2, Chicopee 0 — JD Pruett scored off a direct kick 15 minutes into the game, and Nick Heafey scored from Junior Yunga with six minutes left as the Blue Devils (1-4-2) won their first match of the season at home.

Ian Hutchins made four saves for the shutout.

Gateway Regional 1, Mount Everett 0 — Nick Cooper scored and Shane Mastello made three saves as the Gators (4-3-1) pitched the shutout in Berkshire County.

Pathtfinder 6, Smith Vocational 3 — Tomaz Oliveira scored three goals, while Anthony Palazzi had two assists and Burt Albert added one but the Vikings (2-4-1) fell at home.

Jamie Mikalonis made 11 saves in defeat.

Field hockey

Northampton 1, Westfield 1 — Sophie Morini salvaged a tie for the Blue Devils with a goal eight minutes into the second half.

Hannah Sledzieski assisted the goal, while Danielle Parent made three saves for Northampton (4-1-1, 3-0-1 Central).

South Hadley 5, Palmer 0 — Hannah Menard and Kate O’Neil had two goals each in a road win.

Sarah Shea scored the other goal, while Kayla Carlton and Olivia Wilson added assists.

Brittany Cote did not need to make a save in the South Hadley (3-1-1, 2-1-1 Central) net.

Smith Academy 1, Mohawk 0 — Vanessa Skawski scored with 19 minutes left with an assist from Izzy Duseau as the Falcons (2-2-1, 2-2-0 North) shut out the Warriors in Hatfield.

Taeghan Cavanaugh made two saves for the clean sheet.

Girls volleyball

Amherst 3, Tantasqua 0 — The Hurricanes (7-0) improved in each set en route to the 25-22, 25-20, 25-12 road win.

Claire Basley-Chang had five aces, eight kills and 13 digs, while Meg Rice powered 13 kills.

Periya Yath had 26 digs and Teya Nolan added 37 assists in the win.

Amherst hosts Frontier Regional at 5 p.m. on Monday.

Smith Voke 3, Sci-Tech 0 — Cassandra Paradee had seven aces and five digs, while Desyaneria Padilla added four aces, four digs, three blocks and two kills as the Vikings (1-7) won 25-12, 25-11, 25-24 in Springfield.
