SOUTHAMPTON — After more than two years as town administrator, Heather Budrewicz announced her resignation at a Select Board meeting Tuesday.
Budrewicz has accepted a position as town administrator for Ashburnham. She was chosen from a pool of more than 30 applicants, according to Sentinel & Enterprise of Fitchburg.
Her last day of work in Southampton will be Nov. 25 and she will start her new job the following Monday.
“I’ve learned a great deal along the way,” Budrewicz wrote in her resignation letter. “All of which I will take with me throughout my career.”
Budrewicz gave the Select Board a list of projects that she plans to complete before she leaves, as well as suggestions about a potential interim administrator and information about searching for her permanent replacement.
Budrewicz was appointed as Southampton town administrator in March 2014 after serving almost three years in Haverhill as assistant city clerk. Prior to her appointment, Southampton went over two years without a town administrator.
Budrewicz holds a law degree from the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover, as well as a bachelor’s degree in political science and justice studies from the University of New Hampshire. She also has experience as a volunteer immigration attorney.
“This is a tough job to be in,” Select Board Chairman Charlie Kaniecki said Tuesday. “I think you did a good job.”
“We’re happy for you,” Select Board member John Martin said to Budrewicz. “But not for us.”
