SOUTH DEERFIELD — The South County Senior Center will be closed for upgrades starting Friday through Wednesday.
Senior center Director Marlene Johnson said the building on North Main Street is temporarily closed is to repair and replace the tile floor in the center’s large meeting room.
In an email Wednesday, Johnson said the center will officially reopen Oct. 7.
“I am very excited about the new floor. I think it will enhance the center a great deal,” Johnson said in a statement posted on the town’s website, adding that she extends “thanks in advance for the understanding and cooperation of our region’s seniors regarding the center being closed.”
A flu vaccination clinic scheduled for Tuesday at the center has been moved to the town hall at 8 Conway St. where it will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.

While the center is closed, Johnson said people can send her email at scsc@town.deerfield.ma.us, which she will monitor throughout the week.
