FLORENCE — The Circles for Jewish Living will host its annual Rosh Hashanah ritual and reflection at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 1443 Westhampton Road.

Those who attend will participate in Tashlich, which is the throwing of bread crumbs into the water to represent actions that “missed the mark,” and that people want to see washed away.

“It’s a new opportunity to see how we want to be in the world, in a better way,” said Alison Morse, the director of the Circles for Jewish Living.

The sixth annual celebration will begin with a discussion of Jewish principles. Signs will be held up identifying different principles and people will stand by the one they want to improve most in the coming year.

Everyone will  silently walk down to the water in reflection. The shofar will be sounded when they reach the river, and Tashlich will begin.

There will also be a vegetarian potluck and bonfire.

The event is $18 for adults 18 and older, and children are free. It is also free for any Circles for Jewish Living after-school families. Registration is required for other participants, and may be done online at www.circlesforjewishliving.com/.
