AMHERST – An Amherst man is facing several charges after he allegedly chased and hit a woman, and damaged her vehicle, during a road-rage incident Monday afternoon, according to police.
Amherst Police Detective Jamie Reardon said the 63-year-old Amherst man is being summoned to court on charges of assault and battery, malicious destruction of property under $250 and disorderly conduct.
The incident is alleged to have have begun when the man, driving a pickup truck, pursued the woman’s vehicle into an East Pleasant Street parking lot at 4:28 p.m. Monday.
An eyewitness contacted police after observing the man chasing the woman when she exited her vehicle, Reardon said.
The woman, located in the parking lot, told police the man punched her in the arm and then repeatedly kicked her car before fleeing in his truck, Reardon said.
