Sara Sanau Ruiz scored her first goal of the season in the 81st minute to put Mount Holyoke on top of Clark University 1-0 on Wednesday in South Hadley.

The NEWMAC leader in assists, Ruiz recieved the pass from captain Suz Rose, before launching the breakaway goal seconds later.

Zoe Marshall recorded nine saves for Mount Holyoke (6-5,1-3 NEWMAC).

Field hockey

Amherst College 2, Connecticut College 0 – Heather Brennan opened the scoring 38 minutes into play. Mary Margaret Stoll followed, scoring the games second and final goal at the 60-minute mark.

Emilie Flamme recorded two saves for No. 10 Amherst (8-2, 4-2 NESCAC).

Men’s soccerAmherst College 3, New England College 0 – Amherst scored three goals in the first half in New Hampshire. Christopher Martin scored twice unassisted and assisted Cameron Bean for the game’s second goal 16 minutes into play.

Lee Owen saved eight shots for Amherst (8-1-1, 3-1-1 NESCAC).
