Amherst should stand up to Comcast in negotiations

The town of Amherst is approaching a critical point in its negotiations with Comcast for the renewal of a 10-year contract to provide cable services.

Amherst residents are lucky to have a group of citizens willing to fight on their behalf. These members make up the Cable Advisory Committee and they are not backing down.

After months of studying Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations peppered with intense negotiations with the cable provider Comcast, they have a recommendation.

I encourage the Amherst Select Board to accept and enact the committeeโ€™s latest recommendation.
