SOUTH HADLEY — A Holyoke man was arrested last week for allegedly stealing $123 worth of lobster from a grocery store.

Cesar M. Casiano, 44, was arrested Oct. 10 following an incident around 1:45 p.m. at the Big Y supermarket on Willimansett Street. He was charged  with shoplifting by asportation, 3rd offense, and possession of a Class B drug, subsequent offense.

South Hadley Police Chief Steven Parentela said Tuesday that the store’s loss prevention team called police to report the shoplifting. Casiano attempted to steal three large lobsters valued at $123, he said.

Another person who was not employed by the store ran out of the supermarket and chased Casiano , according to Parentela. He said police eventually located Casiano along Willimansett Street.
