AMHERST — A weekend before Halloween, Amherst Police kept the peace at a handful of loud parties and neighborhood disturbances.
Only one arrest was made at a party during the weekend in a response police made at 1:41 a.m. Saturday to 35 Tamarack Drive.
Leonard Samuel Schwartz, 24, of Portland, Maine, was arrested on charges of violating the town’s noise and nuisance house bylaws, according to police.
Schwartz was allegedly uncooperative in clearing the residence.
At Crestview Apartments, 1001 North Pleasant St., security workers reported at 1:40 a.m. Saturday that beer cans were thrown at them while they were trying to end a party. Police officers warned the tenants about their actions.
Police also issued warnings to North Prospect Street, The Boulders, State Street and Pine Street residents holding loud parties.
At 9:37 p.m. Saturday, police took a report of people walking in the middle of Lincoln Avenue who confronted a woman driving her vehicle, and banged on it. The pedestrians were gone when police got there.
Police handled 210 calls for service during the weekend.
