NORTHAMPTON — Traffic was backed up along Route 9 on Wednesday morning as a construction project on Elm Street squeezed cars into one lane.
According to the Department of Public works blog, workers from Palmer Paving are doing pavement milling, overlaying short sections of Elm Street — near Bedford Terrace — and Kensington Avenue.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of Wednesday.
“There is a slight delay up there but officers are trying to help traffic get through as quickly as possible,” said Northampton Police Captain John Cartledge. “It’s probably an all-day project.”
