NORTHAMPTON — Police said a 15-year-old girl was hospitalized with minor injuries Tuesday morning after she was struck by a car’s passenger side mirror of a car as she crossed Nonotuck Street.
The driver, who Northampton Police Captain John Cartledge said is expected to be cited, was driving eastbound around 9 a.m. and failed to notice the girl accessing a crosswalk.
After the girl was struck by the mirror, the driver exited the vehicle — but left the car in drive, Cartledge said, causing it to roll into a parked car nearby.
Neither the driver nor the girl have been identified by authorities.
The girl was taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital with minor injuries, where she was interviewed by police. Cartledge added that the investigation is ongoing.
